Federal authorities are being tight-lipped as they work to repair damage that occurred at the Bonneville Power Authority substation on Marks Ridge Drive Wednesday evening, Feb. 19. The Linn County Sheriff’s Office received a report of criminal mischief at the substation, at the corner of Marks Ridge and Jones drives, about 5:29 p.m. Wednesday, and reported that a Bonneville Power electrical transformer had apparently been shot at and a radiator appeared to have been damaged by a bullet. Doug Johnson, a BPA spokesperson, acknowledged on Monday that there was damage at the site and that the matter “is still under investigation. That could change, shortly,” he said Monday evening, but was unwilling to speak further or answer questions. On Friday workers were at the power station, above and on Saturday, a worker was spreading booms on the pond located between Marks Ridge Drive and Foster Lake. The New Era will follow up at sweethomenews.com as information becomes available. See more photos on the website.
