Awesome response from community

Editor:

I am once again left in awe and amazed at our little town of Sweet Home.

I personally experienced and was on the receiving end of this community’s outpouring of love at 10 years old.  Since then I have seen it time and time again.

When a family is in need, when our school or sports need support and when there is a call, it is answered.

When we got the news on April 1 that we would not be returning to school, it was not days, but instead it was within the first hour of that news that people started reaching out, wanting to know how we can help our seniors.

Community of Sweet Home, your outpouring of love to the Class of 2020 has left me speechless.  Speechless but not surprised!

I said that we would make this graduation bigger and better than any other school in the state.  I could boldly say that because I knew you would take care of your own.

When the planning for how we were going to celebrate these kids was in the initial stages, I never once doubted that this community would step up.  And you DID!  I just got to be a part of the most incredible and intimate graduation ceremonies.  All 23 of them.  Ha ha ha.

And then we held a processional that celebrated each individual who drove the route, finishing it off with the Sweet Home High School staff sending them off to the next chapter of their lives.

Then, Saturday evening, a stamp was put on the week with the SAFE parents doing a live feed with a raffle that included over $9,000 of prizes.

Thank you to this incredible community and to all of those who played a role in making what it all happen for the Class of 2020.

With sincere thanks,

Steve Thorpe
