A pair of crashes occurred Tuesday afternoon, April 4, within minutes and a mile of each other on Highway 20.
The first (first photo) was reported at 4:32 p.m. on milepost 19. A westbound BMW operated by Tristan Garvey, 25, of Salem, lost control while attempting to change lanes during a sudden hailstorm, which caused a slippery roadway, according to Oregon State Police. The BMW spun into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision with Bryana Bittner, 30, in an eastbound Hyundai.
Bittner suffered a minor injury, while Garvey was issued citations for driving with a suspended license and driving uninsured.
Two cars collided just six minutes later at milepost 20 (second and third photo).
Accoring to OSP, a 2014 Mazda operated by Tori Jackson, 23, was traveling westbound, when she lost control on the hail-covered roadway and struck a 1998 Subaru driven by Robert Juza, 37, of Sweet Home, as he was traveling eastbound.
No occupants were injured and both vehicles were towed due to damage, according to OSP.
