May 23, 1914 – April 27, 2014
Barbara “Barb” (Carver) Morris Dedman, 99, of Sweet Home died peacefully on April 27, 2014 at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital less, than a month short of her 100th birthday.
She was born May 23, 1914 in Neskowin to James and Emma Kodad Carver.
Through her many years of life, Mrs. Dedman enjoyed many things, including clamming, fishing and music, but mostly she loved her friends and especially all her family. She loved to sing and hum the “ditties” of her youth, many of which she sang in her grandmother’s native Bohemian language, and tell the many stories of the incredible things that she’d witnessed during her long life. She loved everyone and was a wonderful, understanding, loving and caring person. She particularly adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dedman is survived by her stepdaughters, Julie Dedman, of Sweet Home and Jacque Violette of Tillamook; daughter-in-law Lurea Morris of South Bend, Wash.; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Norman Carver of Nehalem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, Jack Morris; two sons, Wayne and Don; and most recently, her husband of 31 years, Jack Dedman.
Donations or memorials may be sent to St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 S. Mayflower Ave., Suite 400, Monrovia, CA 91016, which supports children’s cancer research.
A celebration of life was held May 24.
