Sweet Home baseball came out on the losing end of two games to start the season last week.
The Huskies fell at home against Molalla 9-6 on March 15 and then lost on the road to Madras 7-1 two days later.
Sweet Home was up 3-1 after three innings against the Indians but Molalla (3-0) put together a five run fourth inning to go up 6-3.
Three more runs for the Huskies in the sixth inning weren’t enough, as the Indians, ranked sixth in the early season, also added two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Sweet Home had six hits to Molalla’s four. Lewis Conn had two singles, Kelso Ellis had a triple, Casey Valloni had a double, and Jon Holly and Jacob Sieminski each had singles.
Holly took the loss on the mound. Conn and Kayden Gutierrez also pitched for the Huskies.
Sweet Home walked seven batters, and five of those scored.
At Madras (1-1), Sweet Home struck first with a run in the third inning, but then Madras added two in the same frame, then two in the fourth and three in the sixth. The White Buffalo had seven hits while the Huskies had five. Trenton Smith had a double and a single, Ellis had a double, and Kaden Zajic and Dylan Luttmer each had singles.
Conn took the loss on the mound. Christian Dominy also pitched for Sweet Home. The Huskies walked six.
