Baseball team bounces back from loss

The Huskies summer baseball team lost 10-5 at Corvallis on June 22 and then defeated La Pine 19-9 on Thursday and 7-3 on Friday at home.

The first game against La Pine “was really ugly for both teams,” said Coach Matt Matuszak. “We finally just showed up in the bottom of the fifth or sixth.”

Trailing 9-4, the Huskies scored 15 runs to win under the 10-run rule.

That was the worst game his team ever played, Matuszak said. The team made a lot of errors.

The pitchers have been throwing well, but defense wasn’t behind them that day.

The Huskies were scheduled to play at West Albany on Monday. They will play at Silverton on Wednesday and host Crescent Valley on Thursday.
