Hawthorne Principal Terry Augustadt does his time as an Oregon State University Beavers clown to pay off one of several interesting bets on Hawthorne’s annual Civil War food drive last month. The loser had to dress up in gear from the opponent’s team. The Beavers collected 10,628 pounds of food, while the Ducks managed 1,930, according to teacher Delise Rose, who won the clown bet. “The Beavers have won five out of the last six years in bets, so Mr. Augustadt has had to pay off several interesting bets!” Rose noted.
