Belva Pauline Frakes, 91, of Sweet Home died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2011.
She was born July 28, 1920 in Broadbent, Oregon to Jesse and Fernora May (Robinson) Hayes.
She lived in Broadbent through her school years.
She married Kennith Barkdoll and they raised their family moving to Powers and then later to Redmond. The couple later divorced.
She married James “Jim” Frakes. They traveled and shared a lot of adventures together. Mr. Frakes died in 1991. Eventually Mrs. Frakes moved to Sweet Home to be closer to family.
Mrs. Frakes is survived by children, Leanna and her husband, Lloyd Rice, of Sweet Home; Lareta and her husband, Algie Ennis, of San Antonio, Texas; Shirley Schwartz of Portland; Pat Dean of Redmond; and Tim and his wife, Karen Frakes, of La Pine. She also is survived by two sisters, Genave Stevens of Roseburg and Lenora Winklemann of Ontario; a brother, Duane and his wife, Anna Hayes, of Redmond; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Frakes.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at Deschutes Memorial Gardens in Bend, Oregon.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.
