Bernice Helen Pittsley, 88, of Zionsville, Ind., died May 19, 2006.
She was born March 15, 1918 in Lebanon to William and Maude Rucker Waddle. On May 5, 1936, she married Edwin Pittsley.
Mrs. Pittsley worked as an accountant for U.S. Plywood in Roseburg. After retirement, she worked as a licensed tax consultant in LaPine.
She was a licensed pilot in the early 1940s, as was her husband Edwin. She was a member of the Zionsville United Methodist Church, Prayer Warriors, and Senior Adult Ministries. Throughout her life, she enjoyed fishing, bowling, and crossword puzzles.
Shortly after the death of her husband, Mrs. Pittsley moved to Zionsville, Ind., near relatives.
She is survived by her son, Jack and his wife, Ellyn, of Zionsville; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Doris Calvert of Eugene.
A service celebrating Mrs. Pittsley’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, June 26, at Workman-Steckly Funeral Chapel, 1443 Long St., with Pastors David and Cheri Harris officiating. Visitation and a graveside service at Gilliand Cemetery will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Pediatric Myoclonus Center for Mrs. Pittsley’s great-granddaughter, Allison, who is battling a rare neurological disorder.
