Bertha E. Henthorne

April 14, 1920 -Dec. 19, 2005

Bertha Henthorne, 85, died Dec. 19, 2005 at Twin Oaks Rehab. She was born April 14, 1920 in Valliant, Okla., to James and Nancy Peden. She was educated at Lone Star in Oklahoma.

She married Samuel Henthorne and they moved to Sweet Home in 1953. She was a homemaker until 1998 when she moved to Willamette Manor Assisted Living in Lebanon. After five years and failing health she moved to Twin Oaks Care Center in Sweet Home.

Mrs. Henthorne enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and did lots of babysitting when they were small. Her hobby was letter writing for many years and the highlight of her day was mail time. She loved flowers and had many hanging baskets filled with beautiful blooming plants.

Mrs. Henthorne is survived by her daughters: Leola Weld of Albany, Shirley Steenhout of Homer, Alaska, Drewsilla Baldwin of Lake Goodwin, Wash., and sons Sam Henthorne of Foster, and Dennis Henthorne of Albany. She also leaves one sister, Ruby Nowell of Wright City, Okla., and on brother, Leonard Peden of LaPine, Ore. as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Henthorne in 1979.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel, followed by a time of visiting and refreshments. Private burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery in Sweet Home.
