Bertha “Bert” Ann Pollock, 90, of Sweet Home, died July 12, 2022.
She was born Jan. 19, 1932 on the Moore Ranch, at Euchre Creek in Ophir, to Thomas L. and Jewell M. Moore.
She grew up in Ophir, graduating as valedictorian in her class of three. She married Arnold Lee Pollock on May 6, 1950 in Bandon. They lived in a few places before settling in Sweet Home, where Mrs. Pollock lived most of her adult life.
She delivered newspapers, drove an ice cream truck (much to her children’s delight), worked at The Point Restaurant, and at White’s Electronics, from which she retired.
Mrs. Pollock loved sports and was particularly fond of Clyde Drexler with the Portland Trailblazers and Nascar’s Tony Stewart.
In January, all of her children were with her to celebrate her 90th birthday. Her family was her greatest blessing.
Mrs. Pollock is survived by her siblings, Bunny Hanks and Rod Moore of Ophir; children Dennis of Kasaan, Alaska, Phil and daughter-in-law Wendy of Sweet Home, Sue of Coquille; Steve of Ophir, Oregon; Leanna of Coquille, Glenn of Sweet Home, and Mike of Sweet Home; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy and Ole Moore.
The family will spread her ashes on the Moore Ranch up Euchre Creek at a later date.
