Betty Cheek Mink, 74, of Sweet Home died Aug. 28, 2008.
She was born Jan. 17, 1934 in Minko, Okla. to Earl and Mabel (Odam) Cheek.
She and her family moved to La Pine by train in 1938, where they lived in a tent at first. She met her husband Dean while living with family in Sweet Home. They married in Corvallis and lived the first months of their marriage in Philomath. They later settled…
