Betty Lula May Poteet, 86, of Sweet Home died May 6, 2012.
She was born in Rogers, Ark. to Adolphus Frank and Frances M. (Bogart) Herndon.
She graduated from Visalia High School. She lived in Kansas until 1938, when she moved to California. She and Claud Poteet married July 26, 1940 in Wickenburg, Ariz. They moved to Oregon in 1950.
After 1951 they lived in several different states, due to work, finally settling in Oregon in 1956. They moved to Sweet Home in 1973.
Mrs. Poteet loved to crochet, complete puzzles, fishing and bowling. She enjoyed visiting casinos, playing pinochle and dominos.
She is survived by her husband, Claud A. Poteet of Sweet Home; daughter-in-law Merna J. Poteet of Sweet Home; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Poteet was preceded in death by her son, Boyd DeWayne Poteet.
Viewing will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012, at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in Salem.
