B&G Club auction raises $200,000

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Greater Santiam’s Spring Auction, held May 5 at the Lebanon Elks Lodge, raised over $200,000, organizers reported last week.

Some 350 people turned out for the Cinco de Mayo-themed event.

“Funds raised at our Spring Auction constitute a significant portion of the operational budget for the organization supporting after school and athletic programs for kids from grade school through high school.” said Tom Oliver, president of the Club’s Board of Directors. “We are able to maintain a fee of only $20/year for local kids because of the generous support of so many community members.”

The club has several other events coming up, including the Robbie Melcher Memorial Golf Tournament on Aug. 10 and a Fall Auction in Sweet Home on Nov. 10, 2013.
