B&G Club thankful for mayors’ support

Last summer mayors from across Oregon gathered in Lebanon for the Annual Mayor’s Conference.

The conference, attended by a few hundred, included events at Boulder Falls Event Center and the “Mayors on Main Street” event planned and presented by the Lebanon Downtown Association.

A tradition of the Mayor’s Conference is an annual silent auction, where items donated by attendees are sold and the hosting mayor has the opportunity to select a local charity that will benefit from a portion of the funds.

Lebanon’s Mayor Paul Aziz selected the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Greater Santiam, and as a result the organization recently received a check $1,671 from the Oregon Association of Mayors.

This isn’t the first time that Mayor Aziz has directed resources to support the organization and the children it serves.  He has directed collections from the Cascade Christmas Lights, the annual light show which he personally presents, to the Club, and acts as an advocate for the organization on a continual basis.

The staff and children at the Boys & Girls Club are very appreciative of the support.  $1,671 translates to 600 free meals for local children – now that really makes a difference!
