Bobby Gene Walker, 85, of Sweet Home passed Friday August 4, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Sweet Home to Thomas and Rita (Chambers) Walker.
While still a teen, Bob entered the Air Force. During his years of service (1955-1959), Bob was a radio controls operator. After an honorable discharge, Bob returned to Sweet Home where he planted his roots.
Bob was in car sales for about 50 years. In most recent years, he was partnered with his brother, Melvin Walker, owning Walker Brothers Auto Sales, “The biggest car lot in Sweet Home” he would say.
A member of the Elks for 56 years, Bob helped with grounds upkeep and facilitated the weekly poker game. Sometimes, he would even provide a little karaoke serenade as well.
Bob’s hobbies included painting portraits and scenery. He also enjoyed the many hours he spent driving around the beautiful area with his great friend Larry Johnson.
Bob is survived by his sons: Bob and wife Diane of Boulder City, Ryan and wife Lindsay of Sweet Home, Brad and wife Amber of Sweet Home; 12 grandchildren and (soon) 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents Tom and Rita Walker; brothers: Melvin Walker, Thomas “Toad” Walker Jr, William Walker; sisters: Margaret Walker Loux, Artis Walker and Zoa Walker.
A celebration of life is set for 12:00pm on Friday, August 25th, at Sweet Home Elks Lodge. Private burial will take place at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. http://www.sweethomefuneral.com.
