Bobby Wayne Guthrie, 45, died in Albany after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on Dec. 18, 1960 in Delano, Calif., to Tommie Ray and Melvia (McCann) Guthrie. He moved with his family to Sweet Home in 1975 and graduated from high school there in 1979.
After high school, he went to work for the U.S. Forest Service and fought forest fires throughout the United States. He later worked for Stone Forest Industries, and at the time of his final illness, he was working at VSI in Millersburg.
He is survived by his parents, Tommie and Millie Guthrie of Sweet Home; brothers, Jerry of Creswell, Ronnie of Sweet Home and Lonnie of Albany; and numerous other family members and friends.
A funeral service was held on Friday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany. Burial followed at the Lebanon IOOF Cemetery.
