Boys & Girls Club Lebanon auction exceeds expectations

The Boys & Girls Club of the South Santiam’s spring auction at the Lebanon clubhouse on Saturday night was a “huge success,” exceeding expectations in funds raised, said Executive Director Kris Latimer.

The auction set a new record for its “Sponsor a Kid – Sponsor a Bright Future” option, raising $70,000 on that alone, Latimer said.

“Overall, we exceeded our income goals by $20,000. Considering the extra expenses of having the event in our building (tent rental, security, etc.), we should net $15,000 more than projected.”

The event drew some 400 people to the club, which was decorated by some 40 volunteers and staff as an “exotic jungle,” Latimer said.

Meanwhile, in Sweet Home, donors have been “knocking it out of the park,” she said.

“To date, over $62,000 has been given and pledges are picking up. The next goal is to have a total of $120,000 (including the funds given) pledged – this number is important because pledges are what create sustainabiliity and regular income.”
