Boys lose pair of baseball games

Philomath 14, Sweet Home 4

The Huskies baseball team lost 14-4 to Philomath on the road on Friday.

“We came out and started well offensively,” Coach Dan Tow said. “But we couldn’t stop their bats. I thought our kids came ready to play today, but in the end, they were just too much for us.”

J.P. Williams went 2-3 with a solo homerun. Levi Marchbanks went 1-2 with two RBIs.

Williams was starting Husky pitcher. Shelby Johnston pitched in relief. David Sturner was starting pitcher for Philomath. Haynes pitched in relief.

Central shut out Sweet Home on April 16 at Central.

“We really couldn’t figure out their pitcher tonight,” Tow said. “We chased a lot of bad pitches and just really struggled. We had a tough night and just didn’t play that well.”

Greg Sipe and Brad Valloni both went 1-2 on the game. Hamilton went 3-4 for Central with a single, triple and homerune.

Marchbanks started for the Huskies with Sipe pitching in relief. McArdle pitched all five innings for Central.
