Boys soccer: Boys fall 3-1 to North Marion

Sweet Home ended its boys soccer Tuesday, Oct. 25, with a 3-1 loss to No. 8 North Marion at home.

The Huskies finished 3-11 for the year, and were unable to get a win in the tough Oregon West Conference, which featured three teams in the top 10 in the state and two squads in the top 15. Sweet Home finished last in the conference out of six teams.

The score was 1-0 North Marion at halftime, and the “other Huskies” scored another goal 10 minutes into the second half to go up 2-0.

Then Sweet Home answered back with a goal five minutes later, when forward Colton Savri sent a ball in on a set piece and midfielder Max Klumph finished it. Three minutes later, North Marion scored on a breakaway to make it 3-1.

Head Coach Eric Stutzer said it was the first game since the Huskies played East Linn on Sept. 13 that Sweet Home had its entire defensive line back from injury.

“It made a huge difference having Chris Christman,” he said.

North Marionmproved to 6-4-5 with the victory.

Sweet Home’s three wins are the most since 2017, when the Huskies went 3-7-3.
