Boys’ soccer season ends with 5-0 loss to Sisters

The Huskies lost 5-0 at home to Sisters in the final game of the season in boys soccer on Oct. 25.

“We kept them scoreless 30 minutes into the game, which is good with them,” said Coach Ryan Regrutto. “We lost team motivation at the end.”

The Huskies worked hard at the beginning of the game, Regrutto said, but they just ran out of steam against the top team in the league.

“They were always in contention to win league, and we’re just trying to hang in there,” Regrutto said.

The Huskies finish the season winless.

“You look at where we are after playing together for three months, it’s just leaps and bounds better,” Regrutto said. “It’s tough, and nine seniors, it’s hard for me to see them go.”

Regrutto saidhe wishes he could have given those seniors something to get a win.

“I wish I could’ve done better things for them,” he said.

Some games were well beyond the Huskies, he said, such as Stayton, the No. 1 team in the state.

“And some of those games we were right in the thick of it but just couldn’t get it done,” Regrutto said. “Those kids deserve a lot of credit for sticking it out.”
