The boys soccer team lost at home 5-2 to Philomath on Monday.
Philomath is tied with Central for first place in league standings.
“They beat us the first two times we played them,” Coach Karl Schmidtman said. “We played them closer today.”
The Huskies played Philomath fairly evenly, but Philomath has two or three good scorers who finished their plays well, he said.
The Huskies scored their first goal off a corner kick by K.C. Hanscam to Dakotah Keys, who headed the ball into the goal.
“Dakotah was able to run back to the far post of the goal and knock it over the goalie’s head,” Schmidtman said.
Their second goal came when Keys passed the ball to Matthew Grove, who knocked the ball in with his head.
At Central on Thursday, the Huskies lost 6-0.
Central is a good team, Schmidtman said, but the Huskies tied them the first time the two teams met. This time, Central “looked like the team we expected them to be,” Schmidtman said.
The Huskies next face Taft on Thursday.
