Boys tie Central for 3rd in last league golf match

The Sweet Home boys tied for third with Central in a league match Monday, April 30, at Agate Beach.

The Huskies scored 347, led by Taylor Huschka’s 80, good for sixth place, behind Taft (311) and Newport (321).

“Jake Riggs as the star of the day as he continues to lower his score,” said Coach Tom Horn. Riggs shot 90, after carding a 98 the week before at Mallard Creek (see below). “He had another low round, shooting a 90. He just keeps getting better and better.”

Travis Ramoz was second for the Huskies with an 82 for seventh place, while Nick Zahler shot 95 and Nick Pitts a 98 to round out the top five for Sweet Home.

“Taylor Huschka continues to also play well,” Horn said. “He just needs to be able to finish a round strongly. ”

Mallard Creek Invitational

The Huskies played the same teams at Mallard Creek on April 23., shooting their lowest round of the season, a 337, good for a close second to Taft (333).

“We beat Newport for the second consecutive time,” Horn said.

Newport was third with 346, while Central scored 380.

Zahler was the medalist for the Huskies, with an 80, good for fourth place.

“Nick played great,” Horn said.

Zahler finished just ahead of Huschka (81) and Ramoz (84).

“Taylor Huschka is becoming very consistent, shooting in the low 80s,” Horn said. “We’re looking for that breakout round.”

Pitts was fourth for Sweet Home, shooting 92, while Riggs rounded out the Huskies’ card with a 98.
