Sweet Home boys basketball won a pair of tight contests last week, beating Stayton 52-50 at home and Sisters 51-44 on the road.
Stayton beat Sweet Home earlier this season with a buzzer beating three-pointer.
“So we knew it was going to be tough,” said Head Coach Drew Emmert.
“It was a pretty back and forth game the whole game,” he said. “I thought they played pretty tough for being at our place.”
Sweet Home was down four points with ten seconds left, before Aiden Tyler hit a fadeaway three. On the next play, Owen Towry stole the inbound pass and threw the ball to Tyler, who scored an ‘and one.’
“We kind of got them back for what they did to us at their place,” said Emmert.
Tyler scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the game. Brayden Keesee was the second leading scorer with 11 points.
On the road against Sisters, the Huskies didn’t take care of business as easily as they had at home earlier in the season, but still prevailed, aided by five three-pointers from Cole Baxter, who led the Huskies in scoring with 15 points.
Sweet Home (6-4, 2-1) has three more games left on its schedule, and Emmert said the team has to win all of those games to have a chance to make the playoffs.
