Country music fans get their groove on with a crowd appearance by headliner Kurt Van Meter, second from right, on Saturday night, April 16, at Music and Brews in a large tent erected at 1306 Long Street, behind the Rio Theatre. The festival ran Friday and Saturday.
The mini-festival also included camping at Sweet Home High School and performances by Friday headliner Jesse Daniel, Summer Dean, Jackquie Roar, the Boondock Boys and Fogline, drew some 1,300 people, said Robert Shamek, director of the Oregon Jamboree.
The pre-Jamboree event was the first of its kind held in Sweet Home.
“For our first event like this, it was absolutely awesome,” Shamek said. “I didn’t see a single person not smiling and having a great time with their famlies and friends. And every band we had was spot-on – played to the crowd and had some really fun interactions. It was so nice to see so many people laughing and dancing. Total success.”
