Burglary suspect arrested after Craigslist posting

Linn County Sheriff’s detectives last week arrested a Corvallis man in a burglary investigation that began last year.

Sheriff Tim Mueller said the Good Earth Pest Company, 29030 Highway 34 in Corvallis, was broken into three times over the last five months. Power tools valued at about $3,000 were stolen in two of the burglaries.

On Jan. 13, Mueller said, Sheriff’s investigators learned that the victim had located a couple items he believed to be stolen from him and were now posted for sale on line on Craigslist. Detectives made arrangements to purchase one of the stolen items.

They made contact with an individual at a mobile home located at 29229 Highway 34 near where the break-ins had occurred, and bought a Milwaukee Sawzall, which was later confirmed to have been one of the stolen tools.

Detectives returned to the residence where the purchase was made, searched the home and located several more stolen power tools as well as five firearms.

Daniel J. Gill, age 59, of Corvallis, was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of second-degree burglary. He was lodged at the Linn County Jail.

Anyone who purchased an item from Daniel Gill in recent months is asked to contact Detective Randy Voight at (541) 967-3950.
