Following tips received from the public, Sweet Home police arrested James Vernie Seiber, 53, during a traffic stop Saturday in connection to a burglary and theft at Safeway on March 29.
Police pulled Seiber over at 2:07 p.m. on Satuday and arrested him for second-degree burglary, first-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief.
He was lodged at Linn County Jail.
The Sweet Home Police Department was able to identify Seiber based on video surveillance it posted to Facebook on March 29, said Police Chief Jeff Lynn. Several citizens recognized him and provided his name to officers.
“I would like to thank all who took the time to view the video and reply to it,” Lynn said in a Facebook update. “In today’s world, the involvement and input from our community is essential for effective policing.”
