C. Frank Rice

Aug. 12, 1928 – April 3, 2007

C. Frank Rice, 78, of Sweet Home, died April 3, 2007 after a lengthy struggle with kidney disease.

He was born Aug. 12, 1928 in Georgetown, Ill., the son of Frank and Ino (Ramsey) Rice. He served in the US Army, 40th Infantry Division, during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952.

Mr. Rice retired from AT&T in 1987 after 34 years. At that time his family relocated from Illinois to Phoenix, Ariz. In 2002 they moved to Sweet Home from Camp Verde, Ariz., due to health needs. He and his wife became active members of the Sweet Home Evangelical Church, and he continued his activities with his Kiwanis Club.

His many interests included woodworking, motorcycling, gardening, reading his Bible and traveling. In the past few years his health prevented his one true enjoyment – motorcycling.

Frank was a kind, soft-spoken, gentle, godly man and had an impish grin that made you wonder what he was thinking. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan; sons, Tim and wife Nancy of Pleasant Plains, Ill., Tad and wife Vicki of Springfield, Ill.; daughters, Sheila and husband Rick of Ramona, Calif., Amanda and husband Ted of Phoenix, Ariz.; three grandsons; and three granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Sweet Home Evangelical Church, 1347 Long St. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice c/o Sweet Home Funeral Chapel located at 1443 Long St. Remembrances to the family may be mailed to P.O.
