Oct. 13, 1934 – March 11, 2014
C. Harlan Belcher, 79, of Sweet Home died March 11, 2014.
He was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Lane, Okla. to Travis and Melvia (Birdsong) Belcher, one of seven children.
In 1955 he married his wife of 59 years, Geneva in Fort Bragg, Calif. They later had four children, two boys and two girls.
The Belchers moved from Arizona to Oregon in 1965. They settled in Philomath where they raised their family. Mr. Belcher worked in the timber industry and later went on to work as a contractor, from which he retired. His most notable work was the beautiful white gazebo at Hanson Country Inn in Corvallis, where many people have been married.
Mr. Belcher was an avid lover of the outdoors. He spent countless hours in the woods hunting, fishing and camping. He had a deep love of music and is lovingly remembered for finger-picking the blues, playing guitar in church and singing his favorite old-time country western songs while he strummed.
The Belchers moved to Sweet Home and became members of The Full Gospel Church of Sweet Home where they delighted in serving the Lord together.
Mr. Belcher was dearly loved and will be greatly missed in his passing.
He is survived by his wife Geneva; children Geneta Renard, Dennis Belcher, Helen Campbell and Darrel Belcher; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Daylon Brock.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Harvest Christian Center: 4230 Long St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Full Gospel Church of Sweet Home, P.O. Box 298, Sweet Home, Oregon 97386.
