Sweet Home 57, Sisters 49
The Huskies beat Sisters 57-49 in a barn burner at home Jan. 15.
Throughout the first half, the Huskies couldn’t seem to find their fire, although they never ran more than a 10-point deficit.
The Huskies trailed 14-7 after one quarter and 27-22 at halftime.
During the third quarter, with about three minutes left, the Huskies took the lead and never let go. At the end of the quarter, the Huskies led 42-39.
“We just came out in the third quarter with intensity on both defense and offense,” said Grant Kauffman “When Sisters got on a run, we fought back with a run of our own. That happened for most of the rest of the game.”
Throughout the rest of the third quarter and most of the fourth, the Huskies dominated the court, showing that this team was a force to be reckoned with.
With around thirty seconds left in the game, Sisters caught up with the Huskies got within a single bucket, 51-49. All the Outlaws needed was a three-point shot and the game would be theirs. But they had a lot of foul trouble, and the Huskies were determined.
The Huskies came back with six unanswered points to win their second league game.
“I think we were all simply just tired of losing,” Kauffman said. “I know I was. So I did the best I could to bring some energy to our team.”

The Huskies squared off against Cottage Grove in its closest games this season, losing by a fingernail.
Cottage Grove had the early lead, 24-17 after one quarter and 42-37 at halftime. The Huskies closed the gap in the third, 61-58
Even though the boys came up short, a silver lining showed
Kauffman scored 46, breaking the school record.
“It feels awesome,” said Kaufman. “I had no idea during the game that I was even close.”
