Carey Hintze goes 2-1 with RBI for north in All-Stars

Husky outfielder Cary Hintze joined baseball players from all over the state for the annual Oregon All-Stars Series held in Roseburg over the weekend.

He played for the north, working directly with Hap Purden of Wilsonville and Drew Herbert of Central in the outfield.

The south team won the contest two games to one.

The north had a hole in its pitching lineup with the loss of Jordan Pratt of Central who signed with the Dodgers, Sweet Home junior varsity Coach Jon Cohrs said. The north lost the opening game 3-2 on Saturday when series MVP Sean martin hit a two-out home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

The north won the second game 5-1 and lost the third game 10-3 on Sunday.

“Carey played pretty well,” Coach Cohrs said. He had two hits and an RBI in Sunday’s win.

He started two games, playing mostly left field and some center. He was error free and had a number of balls hit to him.

Ivan Munoz of Newport was named the north’s MVP.
