Carissa Niemi, Nathan Koran to marry Aug. 14

Albert and Karen Niemi of Sweet Home are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Carissa, to Major Nathan Koran, US Air Force, son of Charles and Beth Koran of Dillon, Colo.

The bride-to-be is a 1996 graduate of Sweet Home High School and received her bachelor’s degree in 2000 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and her master’s degree in 2009 from American Military University.

After assignments as KC-10 aircraft commander at McGuire Air Force Base, N.J., and T-34 joint specialized undergraduate pilot training instructor pilot at Naval Air Station Whiting Field, Fla., Niemi is now an instructor pilot in the KC-10 at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

The groom-to-be is a 1995 graduate of Summit High School and received his bachelor’s degree in 2000 as a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and his master’s degree in 2005 from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. After assignments as a T-1 joint specialized undergraduate pilot training instructor pilot at Vance Air Force Base, Okla., and C-130 instructor pilot at Yokota Air Base, Japan, Koran is now an aircraft commander in the KC-10 at Travis Air Force Base, Calif.

Niemi and Koran will marry on Aug. 14. After a honeymoon in Costa Rica, the two will reside in Davis, Calif.
