Carl Raymond Cleem, 88, of Sweet Home, died Feb. 5, 2023, in Madras.
He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in St. Vincent, Minn., to Carl Adolph and Gertrude (Borgeson) Cleem.
Mr. Cleem served in the United States Army Reserve from 1953 to 1961. He lived in St. Vincent, Minn., until 1942 when he moved with his family to Midway City, Calif. He settled in Sweet Home in 1994.
He worked for Edison for 35 years, and was also a Midway City volunteer fireman for 10 years and volunteered on Sundays at the Presbyterian Church in Westminster, Calif.
Mr. Cleem enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He held the title of Southern California Horseshoe Champion for many years and was very proud of the accomplishment.
He is survived by his children, Christy (Bob) Meyer of Naperville, Ill., Carl (Annie) Cleem of Madras, Brenda (Kevin) King of Lebanon, Ohio; sister Georgine Cleem-Whalen of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; sister-in-law Sally Cleem of Huntington Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie, in 2018; brothers Sonny and Larry; and sisters Darlene Brayton and Beverly Capparelli.
