Carol Ann Ray
December 20, 1948 – February 16, 2024
Carol Ann Ray, 75, of Sweet Home passed away Friday, February 16, 2024. She was born in Cainsville, Missouri to William “Billy” and Eva Mae (McKean) McClain.
She grew up in South Salem, then moved to Boise, Idaho as a young adult. Carol married Larry Ray in Silverton, in 1980. They lived in Mt. Angel and Stayton for a few years then on to Scotts Mills for about nine years. The family settled in Sweet Home around 1990 and have lived here ever since.
In her younger age she worked at a Chinese Restaurant. She was a stay at home mom where she raised her children. She and her husband worked in the landscaping business. On the farm in Scotts Mills she took care of 300 chickens, selling the eggs; she raised mini lop show bunnies, and helped with raising the pigs. She had a loving pig named “Grumpy.”
She loved having get-togethers with her family and friends. She collected pigs and Pepsi paraphernalia and painted ceramic items. Carol enjoyed going on drives and going to the casino. She loved singing with her kids.
Carol is survived by her husband, Larry Ray; children: Curtis Ray, Brittni Ray, Kenneth Sherwood, Robert (Elisha) Sherwood, Jamie (Jennifer) Ray, and Shawna Ray; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Doug Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Dean Lodge.
Viewing will be 12 pm Thursday, February 29th, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Final burial will be at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements. http://www.sweethomefuneral.com.
