Carol Lynne Kostman, 86, of Sweet Home, died May 2, 2023.
She was born April 15, 1937, in San Diego, Calif., to Gwendolyn (Fowlkes) and Samuel J. Rice Jr.
She grew up in Medford and moved to Oildale, Calif., to attend college. She met and married Billy E. Hornecker. Together they raised two daughters in Bakersfield, Calif.
Following a divorce, she moved with her daughters to Upper Soda and purchased the Mountain House. After selling and moving to Sweet Home, she met and married the love of her life, Cecil R. Kostman.
They resided in Sweet Home and Springfield before moving to Montana in 1985. Mrs. Kostman worked for the City of Kalispell as a finance director. They bought a boat and loved boating, fishing and hunting. She also loved decorating, sewing and playing bingo at the Eagles Lodge. The Kostmans loved to dance.
She retired in 2004 and they resided in Montana until moving to Sweet Home in July 2022.
Mrs. Kostman is survived by her husband, Cecil; children Teresa and son-in-law Lewis Perkins, and Connie and son-in-law Mike Healy, all of Sweet Home, Cindy Croy of Eugene, James Kostman of Eugene, Michael and daughter-in-law Clara Sue Kostman of Texas, and Kevin Kostman of Corvallis; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kostman was preceded in death by her parents; and sister Bobbie Lee Davis (2021).
A memorial service was held May 7 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
