Carol Redden
March 27, 1947 – March 10, 2025
Carol Lynn Redden, 77, of Skiatook, Okla., passed away on March 10, 2025.
She was born March 27, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Wilford Kalani Hoopiiaina and Doreen Mae Wilkinson Hoopiiaina.
Carol married the love of her life, David Redden, on Sept. 4, 1964, in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake temple for time and all eternity.
Together, they operated their business, Hometown Drug, in Sweet Home, where Carol worked alongside David and made lasting connections in the community.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Carol’s unwavering faith in God, her Savior, and the eternal plan of happiness was evident to all who knew her. Her spiritual hero was her grandma, Caroline Fia Salanoa, who was a tireless volunteer at the Salt Lake Temple.
Carol was often referred to as the “Pineapple Princess” and had a passion for serving others. Her creative gifts shone brightly as she used her artistic talents to design beautiful weddings and receptions and bring joy to those around her.
An accomplished pianist, Carol’s love for music was deeply woven into the fabric of her life. She loved the classics, but she was also known to get down with Abba, Fleetwood Mac, and Def Leppard.
She also loved the Beatles and even grooved to “Twist and Shout” with her granddaughter, Livi, in her last few days.
Her heart was always open to others, and she found great fulfillment in helping and uplifting those she encountered.
While she had many interests and hobbies, Carol’s family was her greatest joy. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother (more commonly known as Nana), and aunt, and her love for her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews knew no bounds.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, David, and their family who will forever remember her kindness, faith, and love. Other survivors are: daughter Natalie Redden Bird, her husband David and their children Matilynn Bird, Caroline Bird Perez and husband Sergio, Malia Bird Gale and husband Jesse and son Steven, and Benjamin Bird; son Matthew Redden and his children Vanessa Redden, Bentley Redden, Broderick Redden and Mia Redden; daughter-in-law Leah Black Redden Colsson and her children Alexis Redden and Olivia Redden; sisters Patricia Hoopiiaina Shaw and husband Mark Deborah, and Hoopiiaina Bailey and husband David; brother Cory Hoopiiaina; and mother Doreene Wilkinson Hoopiiaina.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wilford Kalani Hoopiiaina, brother Curtis Wilford Hoopiiaina, and son Daren Redden.
