Caroline B. Putney, 88, of Sweet Home, died July 13, 2021.
She was born July 27, 1932 in Lebanon to Loyal G. “Jack” and Esther Lindig (Barrette) Walker.
She lived in Sweet Home for most of her life, then moved to Central Oregon. There, she and Russell raised their granddaughter Reilly for several years, until Caroline retired. They then became snowbirds and spent winters in Wellton, Ariz.
She has lived at Wiley Creek for the past six years, where she received wonderful, loving care.
Mrs. Putney worked at Foster Grocery Store during her high school years. She became a bank teller and worked for over 35 years for First National Bank, which became Wells Fargo.
She loved going to Arizona for the winter until Russell’s death. She loved to golf, play cards, read and do puzzles.
Mrs. Putney is survived by her step-son, Kim Putney of Albany; step-daughter Susan Spencer West, of Sweet Home; sister Barb Walker, of Sweet Home; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell; son Steve Burdick; grandson Harley Burdick; sisters Marie Smith and Betty Walker; and brothers Alpha, David and Roger Walker.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, at Sweet Home Elks Lodge, with a potluck lunch following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Putney’s name to American Diabetes Association.
