Carolyn A. Care, 69, of Sweet Home died June 16, 2013.
She was born June 4, 1944 in Minot, N.D., to Walter Guy and Edna Irene (Stredwick) Putney.
She moved to Oregon when she was 6, first to Corvallis and then to Sweet Home, where she graduated from high school in 1962. She married her childhood sweetheart, Joel, on July 5, 1963; they would have celebrated 50 years together this year.
Mrs. Care enjoyed her family and snuggling with her grandchildren. She would always make sure they could find treats in her home. She was a talented seamstress, making clothes for her children. She loved to bake, play bingo in Lebanon, watching baseball, rodeos, traveling and fishing often with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Joel Care of Sweet Home; daughters Brenda and son-in-law Dennis Pace of Albany, Gail and son-in-law Chris Gillespie of Sweet Home, Jolene and son-in-law Chris Wines of Springfield; son Ron and daughter-in-law Vicki Care of Albany; sisters Marlene Dunmeyer of Sweet Home, Connie and brother-in-law Kim Shortreed of Lebanon; brother Guy Putney; and eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Irene; siblings Donald, Russell, Darrell, Joe and Janet Putney.
Memorial services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Community Chapel with a potluck following the services.
