A 27-year-old Cascadia man remains lodged in the Linn County jail, nearly a week after he was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of felony domestic assault.
Rocky Eugene Morse, was arrested Thursday evening after a five hour incident at his home at 27080 Dobbin Creek Road in which he allegedly threatened several persons including threatening to light his girlfriend, Jennie Berger’s hair on fire.
The LCSO was called to the scene at 2:30 p.m. and Morse surrendered without incident about 7:15 p.m.
In addition to the LCSO, the Oregon State Police and the Linn-Benton SWAT response team were on scene and used the Cascadia State Park as a command center.
Officials were concerned that family members might be in the house with Morse but later learned he was alone in the modular home.
Monday afternoon, a representative at the Linn County jail said Morse remained at the facility with his next court date set for July 11.
Morse has had extensive contact with the Sweet Home Police Department over the years. A check of his police record indicates some 53 contacts with the police department starting in 1992. The incident report denotes times the police have made contact or had reports about someone, not necessarily charging the person.
Some of Morse’s contacts have included assault, harassment, operating an unlicensed vehicle, no helmet, illegal operation of ATV, driving uninsured, careless driving, theft, DWS, burglary, hit and run, several warrants, VBR, reckless driving, eluding, theft I and burglary I among others.
