Catherine Brocard

June 24, 1929 – April 28, 2008

Catherine Julia Brocard, 78, of Sweet Home, died April 28, 2008 at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. She was born June 24, 1929 in New Brunswick, N.J., to Edgar and Julia (Kresky) Dunn.

She graduated from Metuchen High School in 1947. She lived in New Jersey until 1971, when her family moved to Sweet Home.

She worked for Oliver Machinery Co. in New York, then for Johnson & Johnson as a personal secretary to the executive in charge of the paper division.

She mar-ried Joseph W. Brocard in 1951 and they built a house in Belle Mead, N.J., in 1957. Mrs. Brocard worked at the carrier clinic from 1967 -1971. After moving to Sweet Home she worked for Willamette Industries until retiring in 1991.

She loved gardening and taking care of the apple orchard. She also enjoyed genealogy and square dancing and was a member of the Home Orchard Society. She was a wonderful cook and everyone always enjoyed eating her apple pies.

Mrs. Brocard is survived by her husband, Joseph Brocard; son, Joe and daughter-in-law Nancy Brocard of Sweet Home; daughter Karen and son-in-law Rick Flickinger of Albany; and four granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Edgar Dunn and sister Theresa VanZandt.

Funeral services were held May 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with private burial at Gilliland Cemetery.
