Spring PCS? application to site a communications tower at Sweet Home Police Department has been withdrawn.
Spring had sought to site a tower in Sweet Home to improve local coverage. The City of Sweet Home had hoped to place antennae on the tower for its local emergency dispatch services.
The proposal was opposed by Dan Desler and Development by Design. He had asked why Sprint had passed over using an existing tower, like the water tower located on property owned by Western States Land Reliance Trust, a nonprofit company associated with Development by Design.
City ordinance requires companies to work through a priority list, mainly related to intrusiveness, for siting towers. Before companies can move down the list, they must provide information explaining why it chose not to follow higher priorities in siting.
The Planning Commission continued a hearing earlier this year to allow Sprint time to gather additional information. Last week, Sean Bell, representing Sprint, officially withdrew the application.
Sprint has not filed any alternate requests with the city.
