Nomination forms for the Chamber of Commerce service awards are now being accepted.
The annual event held in February at the Boys and Girls Club includes a number of special awards to the people of Sweet Home.
Among the awards are the following:
– Junior First Citizen: Presented to a local resident between the ages of 18 and 40 who has served the community for 18 to 20 months with a variety of activities in school, community, church, etc.
– First Citizen: Presented to a recipient age 41 or older who has served the community for a period of five years or more through participation in clubs, organizations, community service, youth involvement and church work.
– Distinguished Service: Presented to a recipient age 55 or older who has a minimum of five years of community service, service in recent or previous years.
– Business of the year: Presented to a Chamber of Commerce member who has made a sustained contribution to the community for the past five years or more. The honoree must be a chamber business whose members, individually or collectively, participated in the community and whose presence adds to the economic vitality and livability in Sweet Home.
– Sweet Home Community Foundation Award: Second year, it is intended to spotlight a community organization that contributes to making Sweet Home such a wonderful place to live.
– BPW Woman of the Year: Presented by the Business and Professional Women of Sweet Home to a recipient who has been involved in club activities, community service, youth activities and church work, either in the past or present.
Deadline for submissions is Jan. 17. The banquet is scheduled for Feb. 10.
