Nominations for Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce awards are being accepted.
The 71st Annual Awards Banquet will be held March 14 at the Jim Riggs Community Center, Sweet Home.
Nomination forms are available at, and can be returned or mailed to the chamber office, 1575 Main St., Sweet Home, OR 97386.
Awards and criteria:
Junior First Citizen: Awarded to someone between 18 and 40 years old, who has served the community for at least 18 months in a variety of activities in school, community, church, etc.
First Citizen: Must be 41 years of age or older and have served the community for a period of five years or more. Areas to be judged include participation in clubs, organizations, community service, youth involvement or church.
Distinguished Service Award: Recipients must be 55 years old or older and have contributed years of substantial community service in recent years or in the past.
Patti Woods Woman of the Year, formerly known as the BPW Woman of the Year, is awarded on the basis of present religious, charitable and/or youth activity, present community service and prior years of community service.
Sweet Home Presidents Club – V.I.P. Awards: Open to male or female, 18 years of age or older who is a resident or worker within activities that include a large amount of volunteer time. At least one of the activities should have been completed during the current year, but activities from previous years may be listed.
In addition to those listed above, the chamber awards a Business of the Year Award and an Outstanding Community Service Organization Award, both based on the recipient’s service to and impact on the community.
Include any additional information that would help the committee to make the best choice for the winner of the award. All nominees (unless otherwise indicated) must be a resident of Sweet Home School District #55.
