Chamber plans annual meeting

The Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual membership meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the chamber office on Nov. 19.

The chamber has sent invitations; nomination forms; board, committee and volunteer applications; and forms to update membership information to chamber members.

“We look forward to meeting with you to share highlights from the last year and our vision for the upcoming year,” said Executive Director Katrina Crabtree.

At this point, the chamber has two nominees to the Board of Directors.

Bill Baitinger has indicated he would like to continue serving on the board, Crabtree said. He is the only current director whose term ends this year.

Anyone interested in information, membership or serving on the board should contact the Chamber of Commerce at (541) 367-6186.

As the annual meeting approaches, Crabtree and the board continue to work on reconstructing records, particularly financial records, in an effort to complete forms 990 covering the past three years. The forms are reports filed annually with the IRS by nonprofit organizations.

The Form 990 is a public document outlining an organization’s income and expenses. The chamber did not file the 2012, 2013 and 2014 forms.

“Obviously from when I came on, last fall to now, is current,” Crabtree said. “I’m getting things posted that were prior to my coming on board.”

Chamber officials continue to prepare for the Christmas parade, 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 4. The chamber also will provide permits to those who wish to cut Christmas trees in the Sweet Home Ranger District.

Until Dec. 19, the chamber will be open longer on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
