Charles Alden Grimmett, 86, of Sweet Home died June 21, 2012.
He was born March 5, 1926 in Manhattan, Kan. to Charles Alden and Clara (Weisbender) Grimmett.
He served in the United States Navy in World War II.
Mr. Grimmett lived in Topeka, Kan. until 1949, when he moved to Liverpool, N.Y., and lived there until 1955. From Liverpool he moved to Southern California, then moved, finally, to Sweet Home in 1981.
He met Iris VanWormer at the University of Kansas and they were married Jan. 24, 1950 in Topeka. He worked at General Electric from 1949 until 1955 and then at Hughes Aircraft from 1955 until he retired in 1981.
Mr. Grimmett is survived by his son, Lawrence Grimmett of Murrieta, Calif.; daughter Julie Grimmett of Sweet Home; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Iris Grimmett.
Rosary and a Funeral Mass were held June 23 at Saint Helen’s Catholic Church in Sweet Home. Graveside services were held June 25 at Gilliland Cemetery.
