Editor:
I’ve pondered long and hard, thinking about what I should say in this letter to the people.
I’m not sure why some people are against what many people think and know is good and truly wonderful.
I have two girls, 7-year-old and 9-year-old great-granddaughters who attend a charter school now; and next September, I’m expecting them to be attending the proposed Sweet Home Charter School, which will be located in a very fine building located at the corner of 18th and Long.
I’m so happy and proud to be part of a group that is working together for total benefit on the part of the children and what is best for them. Charter schools are number one.
The school building has been cleared by the proper system that says it’s OK to have a school at this location.
The School Board had cleared it for an opening date, and then they reneged and put forth new conditions. I won’t write down what their new conditions are. I believe most people know what their new conditions are if they’re following all that’s taking place. If you don’t know, get involved and learn the truth. The truth will prevail and lies will not.
Does the public know that we have had teachers coming to PIE and placing their names for this forthcoming September opening date for the Sweet Home Charter School sponsored by PIE and that this school is backed up by leading citizens in Sweet Home? This alone tells me PIE is trustworthy and stable.
It is my privilege to be part of something worthwhile. Charter schools are the number-one educational system “All American.” This is about freedom. People stand, speak up and be counted for something that will come sooner or later.
We should have the choice to educate our children as we want. I always thought America was the land of freedom of choice, of doing what’s right for those who prefer this choice. So why is one small group of people ruling? It definitely is not children but one of control and saying it will be our way or not at all. Our choice of education for our children and what is best for them is what counts.
I’m proud to be a real American and be on the side that’s right.
