Cheryle Diane Friesen, 64, of Sweet Home died Feb. 18, 2011.
She was born Sept. 25, 1946 in Fullerton, Calif. to Joe and Marion (Trogdon) Cota. She was raised in Chino, Calif. until she moved with her family to Sweet Home in 1963. She graduated from Sweet Home High School in 1965.
After high school she attended and graduated from beauty college in Springfield. She married Don Friesen on Sept. 1, 1967 in Sweet Home. She had her own beauty shop for years inside a nursing home and loved making the residents feel pampered.
Mrs. Friesen loved to cook, bake and was a talented cake decorator. She spent many Friday mornings looking for treasures at yard sales. She could take something old and make it shine. She loved and spoiled her grandkids.
Mrs. Friesen is survived by her husband, Don Friesen of Sweet Home; mother Marion Cota of Sweet Home; children Teresa Idris of Beaverton and Tony Friesen of Salem; siblings Joe Cota of Lebanon, Deana Kocan of Richland, Wash., Sue Olsen and Jim Cota, both of Sweet Home; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Cota, in 1999; and sister Lollee Braatz in 2005.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at Jim Riggs Community Center.
