Chess Championship

Eighth-graders Vincent Wolfe and Exavier Stratman face off in the Sweet Home Junior High Chess Club’s championships, while, behind them, seventh-grader Jordan Farrell and eighth-grader Jacob Windom challenge each other on June 3. The Sweet Home Junior High Chess Club has had involvement by five to 15 players most of the year, said president Kaden McCloud, eighth grade, but as many as 25 have attended club events. The pro level winner was Isaiah Aldridge. The novice level winner was Stratman. Most improved was Christopher Montez. Olivia Matney and Brian Kvasnikoff were recognized for long-term commitment to the club. McCloud was recognized for bringing chess back to the school this year.
