One in three children is, or has been, a victim of child abuse.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Life-size silhouettes representing 20 children who died of child abuse in 1999 will be on display at Santiam Drug, April 28, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Each of the panels explain what child abuse is, what community resources are available, and ways to help prevent child abuse.
A key sponsor of the display is Plain Talk, a coalition of community agencies aimed at child abuse prevention and education.
Plain Talk goals include giving children, teens and adults the tools they need to recognize and respond to child abuse, to speak out against abuse and to promote safe and healthy communities.
Plain Talk reaches all levels of the community, from kids, to teens to adults and career professionals.
Statistics indicate there were 285 child abuse cases in Linn county and 158 in Benton county in 1999.
