The Christmas parade is on.
City officials approved the parade route last week. The Chamber of Commerce lacked the resources to organize the parade this year, but former chamber board member Sue Olson has organized a committee to ensure the parade occurs.
The parade begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.
“I feel exceptionally good,” Olson said. “I just got an e-mail from Pat Johnson (the high school) band director). He’s going to have the jazz band in the parade.”
She said she has received numerous calls and people are entering the event, themed “Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes.”
“We’ll have a good parade,” she said.
Entry forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce and City Hall and should be turned in at the chamber. The entry fee is $15, $8 for individuals.
The day also includes a variety of bazaars at area churches and a Christmas tree lighting program beginning at 4 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce. Olson is seeking sponsors for tables at the lighting. Any organization, church or business that is interested may contact her at (541) 367-4639.
The Sweet Home Alumni Foundation Tree Auction begins at 5:45 p.m., followed by the second performance of the 30th annual program presented by the Sweet Home Singing Christmas Tree.
